Napa Valley is a dog lover’s paradise. Dog-friendly wineries and restaurants litter the valley, and while it’s easy for your pooch to accompany you on your wine country vacation, it may not be as entertaining for your pup. If you are looking for a more dog-centric event to engage your pet while on vacation (and pet a few dogs along the way), try attending a local animal fundraiser.
This Saturday, join Napa Humane at Provenance Vineyards in Rutherford for a day to celebrate the special pup in your life, and give back to Napa’s companion animals that need it most. Paws for a Cause kicks off at 11am, and will feature fun lawn games, a special snack pack for your dog, and Provenance’s newest spring releases paired with Rebel Dog’s gourmet hot dogs.
Napa’s Rebel Dog cart serves up mouthwatering hot dogs packed with flavor. They carry a variety of hot dogs, sausages, hot links, and house made condiments. So have a dog with your dog and visit this traveling hot dog cart. We love the Cali Dog with chicken sausage, arugula, avocado, tomato, and cheddar cheese. They also have a vegetarian option available, The Carrot Top, using a steamed carrot in place of a hot dog, sliced sweet potato, curry vinaigrette slaw, tomato, and cheddar cheese.
Stick around for a wine tasting at Provenance Vineyards on their beautiful patio with panoramic views of the surrounding valley. Located off of Napa Valley’s bustling St Helena Highway, Provenance Vineyards “Bordeaux House” specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc wines. Try their robust 2013 Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon vintage with notes of blackberry and black licorice. Their Hewlitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is also a standout vino, with aromas of loamy soil, scorched earth, blackberry, black cherry, allspice, clove, and subtle oak.
Visit Napa Humane for more information, tickets, and a list of upcoming fundraising events for you and your pooch, like the annual Walk for Animals being held this August. Paws for a Cause tickets are only $10, with 100% of ticket costs being donated to Napa Humane, along with $10 for every wine flight purchased.
