If you snagged tickets to the sold-out BottleRock festival, you are in for one boozy bash. Some of the best wines, brews, and spirits from Napa Valley and beyond will be available, and are sure to spark your taste buds. So sip and see music’s biggest acts on this festive weekend. Let’s take a look at the leading libations.
Sip, swirl, and savor from a selection of wines from over 20 wineries. Warm sunny weather is predicted for BottleRock weekend so you want a wine that will keep you refreshed. Domaine Chandon produces some of the best Brut in the valley to do just that. When it comes to sparkling wine, Brut is the driest of bubblies and their Classic expresses their signature flavor profile of apple, pear, and citrus. Visitors at their Yountville winery love the étoile Rosé, with fresh aromas of plum, raspberry, and nutmeg, layered with delicate flavors of cocoa powder.
Visit the Hess Collection booth for delicious still wines. Sourcing grapes from the Mount Veeder mountain vineyards, Hess found the ideal combination of soils and microclimates to produce fruit of distinct character and flavor. For something new, visit The Prisoner Wine Company, coming to Napa this summer. Their website promises wine blends that challenge expectation, and we can’t wait to welcome them to the valley and sample some of their vinos during BottleRock weekend.
For a hot day, stick to ales, lagers, ciders, and IPAs and save the malty reds, browns, and stouts for night. You can’t go wrong with beers from popular California breweries Ballast Point and Stone Brewing, but we hope you’ll try brews from the many local breweries that will be in attendance.
Try a bitter hoppy IPA from Knee Deep Brewing in Auburn, like their favored Breaking Bud, a classic IPA with tropical fruit hop flavors of mango and passion fruit. Head to Drake’s Brewing to taste why this San Leandro brewery became a Bay Area favorite. Check out Calicraft Brewing, a small batch brewery out of Concord that creates California-inspired classics using local ingredients like starthistle honey, Cluster hops, and anise hyssop. The craft beer craze is spreading, and we think you’ll soon be seeing these local brews pop up across the country.
For those of us who appreciate a fine barrel-aged whisky, BottleRock will have a Bourbon bar featuring favorites Knob Creek, Basil Hayden’s, Booker’s Bourbon, and more. Also visit the cocktail bar for mixed drinks with fine tequila, gin, and vodka. Try the Hendrick’s Gin Sun God with lillet blanc, fresh cucumber, lemon, local honey, and soda. For a take on the classic Moscow Mule, try a Reyka Vodka Turmeric Mule, with ground turmeric, ginger beer, and lime.
