5 of the Best Mexican Restaurants in Napa Valley

Napa Valley is no stranger to delicious authentic Mexican food and the options are plentiful. After all, Napa used to be part of Mexico for nearly three decades, until 1848. So celebrate Napa Valley’s rich Mexican-American culture by visiting one of their taquerias for a revelatory dining experience. Here are the best Mexican restaurants and taquerias from around the valley.

La Taquiza Fish Tacos

Just minutes from downtown Napa you’ll find La Taquiza Fish Tacos, a family-friendly spot serving up fresh and affordable seafood prepared in true SoCal/Mexican fashion. To start off your meal, hit up their salsa bar or try their octopus ceviche that is served warm with lightly grilled red and green bell peppers in a marinade of garlic and cilantro with tostadas and freshly sliced avocado. For your main course order the fried fish burrito. The burrito is packed with crispy fish, beans, cilantro rice, cabbage, and hot sauce that gives the burrito a slight heat. Top it all off with a warm churro! 2007 Redwood Rd, Napa

Tacos Garcia

This list wouldn’t be complete without an authentic Mexican taco truck. Down the street from the world famous French Laundry fine dining establishment, lies the Tacos Garcia food truck. They have all the traditional Mexican cuts of meat you rarely find - pork stomach, beef tongue, fried intestine, beef cheeks, and more. Try the lengua (beef tongue) burrito, with its tender cuts of meat. Then walk across the street to Girard Winery for a taste of their jammy Mixed Blacks red wine to cap off your meal. Washington St, Yountville

La Luna Market and Taqueria

We have mentioned this taqueria before in our 5 Hidden Gem Restaurants in Napa Valley post, but we love this place so much, it had to make this list as well! Pick up a jar of La Luna’s fresh and spicy salsa fresca from the market to-go and order the cabeza tacos from the taqueria. The cabeza cuts of meat have just the right amount of creamy fat and lean meat to make these tacos melt in your mouth. Enjoy your quick bite to eat on their patio and look out over the nearby vineyards. When you’re done, take the short walk to Beaulieu Vineyards and reserve a tasting at this historic winery. 1153 Rutherford Rd, Rutherford

Azteca Market and Taqueria

A short walk from downtown St. Helena brings you to the Azteca Market and Taqueria. The market is packed with different hot sauces, salsas, beans, and produce, and the taqueria serves up quick Mexican dishes with plenty of outside patio seating available. The chicken and al pastor are both excellent. These tender meat options are juicy and packed with flavor and complement the traditional taqueria toppings perfectly. Their freshly made guacamole is creamy and refreshing and just about perfect atop any of their menu items. If you love the lemony herb taste of cilantro, this restaurant is for you! They pack their dishes with loads of it. 789 Main St, St. Helena

Vallarta Market

We love a good taqueria tucked back in a Mexican market full of fresh produce and cold cerveza, and the Vallarta Market is no exception. This authentic Mexican taqueria uses high quality ingredients to create simple and savory classic dishes. This takeout-only joint has excellent carne asada tacos and chorizo breakfast burritos, but you must try the flavorful carnitas. The perfectly cooked and spiced carnitas are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. 1009 Foothill Blvd, Calistoga
